We Are Los Angeles: California Community Foundation’s Centennial Anniversary
Public Art Project
Grand Park
Los Angeles, CA
November 12, 2016
Vallejo has been selected as a featured artist for We Are Los Angeles—a temporary public art project celebrating the California Community Foundation’s (CCF) Centennial anniversary this year. We Are Los Angeles, which will feature a series of 30 works, is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles, and will showcase Los Angeles artists whose work represents the vitality and breadth of our region’s arts community.
This project is inspired by Community of Angels, a large-scale temporary public art installation in Los Angeles that took place between 2000-2002. The project commissioned artists, organizations and sponsors from the region to adorn a pre-existing sculptural template of an angel via paint, mosaic or other media. The 2000 Angel mold was designed by artist Tony Sheets, with a redesign in 2002 by artist Gayle Garner Roski.
