Censored Full Installation, 2006
Repurposed newspaper, Wite-Out, Mylar, acrylic, pigment prints of Internet images
23 1/2 x 15 in.
Description: Recycled newspaper collages using manipulated photographs, acrylic, Mylar, whiteout and UV protection spray.
Narrative: Reading the newspaper and watching television are daily, mundane events, with images appearing in an incongruous mixture of frivolous advertisements, toxic photographs, deadly headlines, and soft porn. The dichotomy of these unending, contradicting images creates a mixture of humor, absurdity, disbelief, guilt, and horror, be-speaking the postmodern conundrum. “Censored” provides the humor needed to consider this complex combination of opposites and parallels.
