Aqui Estamos / We are Here: California Chican@ Art
group exhibition
Cabrillo College Gallery
Aptos, CA
January 26—February 27, 2015

This diverse selection of California Chican@ artists ranges from realistic imagery to abstract work. Techniques include drawing, painting, cut paper, photography, sculpture and wood block printing. Some of the artists confront political issues of racism, immigration and socio-economics head on. Others use humor to convey conflict and explore living in two cultures simultaneously. The artwork references the past, the present and a view into the future. We at the Cabrillo Gallery are grateful for the opportunity to present this collection of artwork that represents a portion of a community with diverse views on life in California.

Artists included: Abel M. Alejandre, Linda Arreola, Eduardo Carrillo, Enrique Chagoya, Juan Fuentes, Lorraine García-Nakata, Amanda Lopez, Jose Lozano, Viviana Paredes, Shizu Saldamando, Leigh Salgado, Manuel Santana, and Linda Vallejo
